Minnesota Vikings versus Green Bay Packers
The Vikings enter Green Bay for this classic NFC North fight coming off a 28-12 win over the Falcons.
The Packers survived a defensive battle against the Bears by a 10-3 score. They enter a three-point favorite with an over/under at 44.
Against the Falcons, the Vikings used a ground attack led by Dalvin Cook, who rushed for 111 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries.
Alexander Mattison added 49 yards on nine attempts and a score.
Having that much success against the Packers is unlikely after allowing only 46 yards on 15 carries against the Bears.
Because of the proficient ground attack, Kirk Cousins attempted only ten passes, completing eight.
He found Adam Thielen three times for 43 yards and Stefon Diggs twice for 37 yards.
The Packers allowed 274 yards through the air but had an interception and five sacks.
Protecting Cousins will be a key since he will most undoubtedly need to pass more than in week one.
Aaron Rodgers had a mediocre day against Chicago, completing 18-of-30 for 203 yards and a touchdown and was sacked five times.
The Packers offensive line must do a better job against Vikings defense that sacked Matt Ryan four times last week.
Marquez Valdez-Scantling led the team with four catches for 52 yards.
Davante Adams was held to four receptions for 36 yards and Jimmy Graham caught the lone touchdown of the game.
On the ground, the Packers could have a tough go of it this week since the Vikings allowed only 73 yards against the Falcons.
Aaron Jones had 39 yards on 13 attempts and Jamaal Williams had zero yards on five carries.
With what could be a very close battle, the kickers become much more important.
Dan Bailey made all four extra points last week without a field goal attempt. Mason Crosby hit on his lone field goal and extra point try.
Two things are very likely in this game. First, the Vikings won’t put up as any as 28 points like a week ago.
Although the Vikings defense is tough, it’s difficult to see the Packers scoring only ten.
I do see a typical NFC North battle with tough defense and a tight score.
Give the edge to the Packers at home for a victory along the lines of 21-17. Im taking the UNDER and for Green Bay to barely cover.
