New York Mets v Atlanta Braves: 4/11/19. MLB Over Under Picks.

New York Mets versus Atlanta Braves: Arpil 11

Through games played April 8, the Mets had a 6-3 record, while the Braves were right behind them at 6-4.

On Thursday the teams meet with Steven Matz on the mound for the Mets and Kyle Wright for the Braves.

Matz is coming off a year where he won 5 and lost 11 with an ERA of 3.97.

He got hurt by the long ball, allowing 25 home runs. He’s 0-0 with a 0.87 ERA and 11 strikeouts in 10 1/3 innings this season.  Wright is 0-1 with a 4.35 ERA this season.

In 10 1/3 innings, he’s been taken out of the park three times and walked six, while striking out eight.

Wright is very inexperienced at the Major League level, with only six appearances under his belt.

Offensively the Mets are averaging 5.8 runs per game. Jeff McNeil and Wilson Ramos lead the team in hitting, are .409 and .400, respectively.

Pete Alonso has been the top overall hitter, with three home runs, 11 RBI, a .382 average and 1.256 OPS.

Michael Conforto, J.D. Davis and Robinson Cano have added addition power, each hitting two home runs.

The Braves have been solid at the plate as well, averaging 5.2 runs per game this season. They are lead by first baseman Freddie Freeman, who leads the team in hitting at .389 and in doubles with four.

Ronald Acuna Jr and Dansby Swanson have each hit three home runs and Swanson leads the Braves in RBI with 12.

Ozzie Albies and Nick Markakis are both hitting over .300, adding to a very good offensive attack.

Both teams have been good at the back end of the bullpen. Edwin Diaz has four saves for the Mets and has struck out five in 3 2/3 innings.

Arodys Vizcaino and AJ Minter have each recorded a save in a bull pen by committee approach so far.

The Braves lead the league in defense, with only three errors and a .992 fielding percentage.

The Mets are eighth in the National League with a .981 fielding percentage.

All told, the Mets have given up 5.2 runs per game, while the Braves strong pitching and defense has held opponents to 4.4 runs per game.

This should be a tight game. Comparing the offenses and defenses, expect both teams to be in the 4 to 5 run range for the game.

This means the game is pretty much a toss-up. Look for 8 to 10 runs scored.

The game is more likely to be average scoring than high scoring, but an exciting one for fans that like to see a game decided late. Im expecting say a 5-4 result.

And the OVER has hit 9 from the Mets last 10.
